That poor woman has never really learned how to fully deal with her own emotions. She's a walking ball of passion, which lends itself to such highs and lows. Quite the roller coaster. That was definitely one of the lows.
[She nodded.]
I think we'll both hang our hats on December. It seems a fitting time for the awfulness to come in, if it is not coming in October. The question is more of one of scale, I suspect.
And in some ways, given her age, it's kind of nice to see that she still has a bit of light naivety. It won't last forever, but the innocence of youth still hanging on her can be very cheering at times. [She smirked to herself. Perhaps that was why she and Minako were actually working out. Minako was a bit more worldly wise than her friend.]
If I were guessing... A seven or an eight. I'm not sure that nine or ten is something that Trench can produce against us, though we've hardly seen the worst it is capable of. So, take that with a grain of salt.
[Reaper growled in agreement.] Once she outgrows that phase, she'll go from embarrassed by it to nostalgic to the good ol' days, right? When life's worries were simpler and less pressing than the one's in the adult world. [After all, a significant portion of his life and Vira's had been war. That affected one's outlook.]
Hmmm, you are probably right. Trench hasn't yet shown how dark it can go just yet. I think a seven as well.
Mmmm, yes, almost certainly nostalgic. It seems in her nature to still love the simpler pleasures of life. She actually smiles very easily after all. I certainly hope the embarrassment doesn't last too long.
[Both of them were definitely jaded in their own ways, the bitterness of years seeping in under the surface. how they coped was different, but a century of war could affect the soul.]
My hope is that, even if it always becomes a 7, it becomes a predictable one. No matter how threatening, if the threat level never changes, we can eventually build up defenses against it.
And we both know you like the ones that smile easily. And blush readily. And are very passionate about certain subjects. But you're happy with the blonde, so that's good.
[He expected that what Vira thought she needed and what she actually needed in a relationship was different. He expected some maturity was far better for her.]
I expect that it will. We just don't know what sort of elements are in play here yet. That will come with time. We will deal with it. We always do.
It might amuse you to know I am the one who usually ends up blushing around her. She's... talented at catching me off guard. Very talented in fact.
[It had been one of the aspects of the relationship that had taken her by surprise. If anything, it had been one of the things that had made her reconsider taking it seriously very early on, and actually go all in. People didn't make her blush that easily.]
Blood, clearly. I want to be certain exactly how that works. The impact seems to be ... symbiotic amongst us, and I want to be very very sure how that operates.
That does amuse me. I didn't know you had that kind of weak spot for self-conscious teenagers. We all have our vices, I suppose.
[That sort of relationship sounded like it would be exciting, and certainly never dull. Someone of Vira's age and life experience could definitely use exciting in her life.]
It does seem that way. I've noticed key changes with how I operate, though I am still exploring. Does blood fuel your magic, or override it completely?
Heh. She's quite mature, actually. [She snickered] But I do have my vices. And, it appears that one of them is indulging her ability to tease.
...
As for my magic, I believe that the transfer here saw the fading of my actual raw magic. It's why it doesn't work. It might have been tied into the choices I made and something of the conversation I had with the Moss King. It appears that the blood has expanded my second sight, allowing me to see visions when I touch an item. Of its use, its owner, its past.
And you'll continue to blush because of said vices.
[Now there was interesting information. Vira with no magic?]
That will keep you vulnerable until you learn what your blood magic can allow you to do. These visions allow you to see the future or just the here and now?
Well... you may have noticed that I've moved back into more of a support role. There's a reason for that. I know how to handle myself in a fight, but relying on gun and blade means that I have to be cautious about what fights I get into.
I still have my shrug, actually, so I might use stealth more thanks to it. [She smirked a little.]
My third eye can see the future, and my touch gives visions of the past uses of an item. So a little of both.
Mmmm, I was going to suggest that the scholarly mage might need a few pointers from the black ops specialist, but oh you do put it much more amusingly don't you? Thank you.
[She chuckled some.]
Perhaps it will. We will see soon.
[Yeah, when they were literally lost in town all month. So fun. These vague warnings were going to be annoying.]

It is true. On a scale of one-to-ten with one being rainbows and puppies and ten being apocalyptic-like misery, how bad do you think December will be?

If you would like to learn some infiltration techniques, I can give you some that you might not know. Not that this place is particularly high tech.
And what does the future bring then?
