And I guess it is. I'm not really mad, I just . . . thought she'd listen to me when I said she was doing too much.

Don't take it too personally. People like that are people pleasers and they think their methods are best to do just that. It's easy for them to get over their heads.

[Luz was young, and she was in denial about her limits. He gestured for Ahiru to come closer to where he was seated so he could set a hand to her head.]

[ she nods slowly. she really was all right. ]

[ except with fakir long ago, but that was a different time. she barely remembers that anger. ]

[Reaper inclined his head as he watched her, lifting an elbow to rest on the back of the chair he was occupying.]

That can't be true. Ducks have a temper, but maybe you're just a special duck-changing-girl.

[She also was far too nice and easy to embarrass to have that much of a temper.]

How did the anger make you feel, hmm? Embarrassed? Good? Bad?

It . . . felt weird. Like I had to be angry at her to get her to understand.

And even then I'm not sure it worked.

It worked, or it at least gave her something to think about. People who don't get angry being in such a state always draws attention because of it's rarity.

[He patted her head lightly.]

Do you want me to talk to her and check in too?

No. I don't want to . . . make it seem like I didn't believe her when I do.

[Too bad, he was probably going to check in anyway, but he'd been subtle about his questions. He wouldn't want Ahiru upset with him.]

Are you so certain? Some people are into that... but dating is about finding the imperfect person that makes you feel a touch more perfect.

I didn't always, but age changes one's priorities when looking for someone to date.

Dating someone doesn't even feel real. It's not like I could ever really be with Mytho. Or anyone.

[His hand moved from resting on the top of her head to the back of it, pulling her towards him and lowering his face to look her right in the eye.]

You're young. Don't be in a hurry to date, but when the time or person comes along, you will. Love finds us when we are least looking for it.

[He nudged her red cheek with a gloved finger, smirking as he sat back in his chair.]

Sounds like an adventure. I bet I could find you a nice young person to date.
